– The envelopes are mostly made of offset paper with a common thickness of 140g/m2. The type of envelope used to hold cards comes in many colors, so coated paper is used for better colors, with the usual weight being 150 g/m2 – 200 g/m2
– In some cases, brown kraft, white kraft, or duplex paper is used
– There are a few customers who need luxurious and distinctive envelopes for special events and high-end clients of the company, using art paper with a weight of 250 g/m2 or more. This type of envelope usually comes with art paper cards
Envelopes are usually printed using industrial offset or laser printing. If you order envelopes in small quantities of about 200 or less, you should choose laser printing technology as it offers better printing costs and faster printing time. On the other hand, if you print in larger quantities, you should opt for industrial offset printing because the cost is much cheaper at that point.
– For envelopes that you design containing only 1 of the 4 colors in the CMYK color system ( C=Cyan; M=Magenta; Y=Yellow; K=Key) then you should choose to print in 1 color. If your envelope contains other colors, you need to consider which colors it is made up of to choose the appropriate number of colors.
– For envelopes or invitations where the main background color is the color of the paper and the ink for the information occupies only a small part of the envelope, you only need to select “No background printing (ink coverage <50%). Conversely, for envelopes where the information and images occupy a large part, you should choose “Full background printing (ink coverage >50%)
– Regular envelopes are finished with adhesive sealing and waiting for tape. Envelopes for cards do not use waiting tape but instead use a clasp structure for convenience.
– Envelopes made from Couche paper typically use nylon lamination. Due to the nature of Couche paper being made from stone powder, it can easily break and create white paper dust when folded multiple times. The lamination processing technique will overcome this issue and help the envelope maintain its color, avoiding dirt.
– To create highlights, additional methods such as hot stamping, embossing, debossing, and UV coating should be used.
– Additionally, if you want to price envelopes with designs different from the common A3, A4, A5 envelopes on the market, in the processing section of the envelope printing quotation table, select “special shape die-cutting.” For envelopes with window frames, select “window processing” to calculate the price.
